Bluetooth Server Highlights |
|
Wireless Connection The Scanning Devices SD900 Bluetooth Industrial I/O Server links sensors, actuators, instruments and other industrial equipment with handheld PDA's using wireless bluetooth communications. Personal Control Network The SD900 Bluetooth Industrial I/O Server provides a wireless link between handheld PDA and a set of industrially packaged discrete inputs and outputs, communications port and local data storage. The server allows Bluetooth enabled PDA's to access and control industrial inputs and outputs which may be connected to sensors, switches, actuators, instruments. |

Product Description SD900 is a self-contained DIN-rail mounted server incorporating a computing element, bluetooth radio module, RS232 communications port, local storage and a set of discrete inputs and outputs. The server responds to commands transmitted by a PDA over a bluetooth wireless link to read discrete inputs, set discrete outputs, store or retrieve server data, send or receive data on the communications port. The server also contains initialization and startup parameters such as the state of discrete outputs and communications port settings, accessible from the handheld. Wireless communications uses Bluetooth, a short range, adhoc networking standard. SD900 Bluetooth Server is designed to be a stationary device, operating in the physical environment of a sensor-, instrument- or controller-based system. It enables these systems and components to communicate to Bluetooth enabled PDA's. |

The Server's Clients
The handheld PDA is a client to the SD900 Industrial I/O Server, establishing an L2CAP connection to the SD900. All service requests originate in the client. Scanning Devices client applications are based on Palm OS and Windows CE (PocketPC 2003). These applications allow the handheld PDA user to access all server commands and functions. They may be customized for specific situations. (Please note: 1. Software development tools and resources may be required for customization; 2. Not all PDA's provide Bluetooth support for L2CAP connections. Contact Scanning Devices for advice.)
