Scanning Devices new Hand-held Target System supports hand-held scanners. It features a standard PS-2 keyboard-wedge scanner interface, making attachement of popular hand-held scanners quick and easy. The Target System verifies that barcoded labels, package inserts and other auto-id items carry the right identifier. Scan pallets, cartons or single products to make sure that barcode labels are applied, readable and correct.
Key Features Reads a barcode, compares to Target (the correct code), generates an output, right or wrong. The output is suitable for automatic machine control or simple display for the user. • Simple Setup - New Target Barcodes can be keyed or scanned. Target System learns a new code by scanning a master barcode.
• Fast Setup - Target Barcodes setup is stored in permanent memory and retained until changed. On power-up, the last setup is recalled and can be restarted with two keystrokes.
• Reliable, Secure Setup - Optional security keyswitch for operator/supervisor restricts access to setup and count reset operations.

Operating Sequence

Startup
• Operator/Supervisor inserts and turns key switch for setup.
• System responds by displaying the current Target barcode.
• Operator/Supervisor continues with the displayed Target barcode (# key) or selects a new code (* key).
• If # key, setup is complete. Remove the keyswitch to scan barcodes.
• If a new Taget code is required, system asks for preference: scan or key-enter the new target barcode.
• User response enables scanner or keypad for new Target entry. After entry the new Target Barcode is displayed. Setup is complete.

Scanning Barcodes
• System activates scanner when the keyswitch is removed and waits for barcodes.
• When a code is read, system compares code with the Target Barcode.
• If the two match, the GOOD output is energized good count is recorded.
• If the two do not match, the ERROR output is energized and an error count is recorded.

Stopping
• The Stop key ends the sequence and presents a menu of possible actions
  • Shut down - selecting this action stores the counts for power down and puts the system to sleep so no further action can occur until a power down-up cycle occurs.
  • Display counts - sequentially displays good read count, error count. Offers an option to reset counts. Key switch is required to reset counts.
  • Resume - go back to scanning barcodes.

• Barcode Test Mode - read and display barcodes on the operator panel. Simple display is valuable to make sure that codes are printed correctly.
