iConnection Products clip on to Palm handhelds and accept an RJ11 (telephone style) connector for an iButton probe. With Palm OS software, they read and write iButtons (industrially packaged memory and sensor components) manufactured by Dallas Semiconductor. Palm OS software operates uniformly with all iConnection products, so that applications written for one Palm series and one iConnection product operate without modification on the others.

tcButton is an Application System spanning PC and Palm to implement temperature logging with the Dallas Semiconductor Thermochron iButton.
The Palm OS component of the tcButton application provides Palm Database and User Interface on the handheld. It has been extended in Version 2 to include Palm-familiar features: Beaming, Palm preferences for temperature units and mission initialization, Database searches for text and iButton Serial Numbers, Palm calendar-like scheduling of Missions.
The Windows PC Dialog component of the tcButton application is used to enter Thermochron Mission parameters for transmission to Palm and to display Thermochron Mission data read by Palm. Version 2 has been extended to Display Thermochron samples in columnar form with date, time, temperature and alarm status; Select samples for display; Generate mission data in web page or tab-delimited format for importing into other PC software systems such as Excel or SAS, for transmission to other computers via the internet; and for printing, editing and reporting.
Version 2 of tcButton began shipping to customers in June and is currently available for all Palm handhelds which operate with iConnection products.
