The Portable Target System consists of a Symbol Technology 1550 – a Palm based handheld computer with integrated barcode scanner – with Scanning Devices application extensions. The extensions are application software modules that construct target sessions, read and verify barcodes, report results, accumulate totals, save session status in the Palm session database and transfer session information to a PC for reporting and distribution.

The versitile and popular Palm Handheld delivers numerous personal applications from calendar keeper and date book to pocket calculator, memo writer, to-do list and more. The Portable Target System is built on this easy-to-use platform, adhering to the style and usage characteristic of the Palm Handheld.

The system constructs and operates a Target Session for barcode testing on a Symbol Technology 1550 Handheld Computer. The 1550 is portable, powered by rechargeable batteries. The system includes a combination docking station and charger (110 VAC required for charging). The docking station may be connected to a Microsoft Windows PC for data transfer.
