Portable Target Barcode Systems

Setup Features and Options

  • Selectable barcode types - This feature allows wide (read all barcode types) or narrow (read only one barcode type) interpretation of barcode data. Eight barcode formats are supported in any combination: UPC/EAN, Code 39, Code 93, Code 128, Interleaved 2 of 5, Domestic Code 2 of 5, Codabar, MSI/Plessey. The user selects the barcode type by checking a box on the Target Setup Screen. The selection is used until changed.
  • Resume an in-process saved session. The Palm database contains a list of sessions. A session may be recalled from the database and resumed as long as it continues to be listed in the database. Sessions are removed from the database when they are hot-sync’ed (uploaded) to PC through the docking station.
  • Reset the sequential session number. A new session number – the next sequential number - is assigned for each new session. The next session number may be reset to any number by user entry. This may be helpful to identify new time periods such as the beginning of a week or month, the start of a production shift, or other periodic event. That way, the session number reflects activity within that period.
  • Read a barcode, identify its type. This test is done outside the structure of a session to check a barcode and/or determine its type. It may be done at any time with a few taps on the Palm Screen without disrupting session measurements or counts.
